WEDDING CAKE - IVORY AND DUSKY PINKS

FOR VICTORIA & GRAEME

Just over a week ago, i had the joy and excitement of travelling to Melbourne to deliver a very special Cake....    Yes, my dear friend Marjorie asked me to make her beautiful Daughters Wedding Cake.....and so the preperation began....

The fruit soaking in Brandy (for 9 weeks) was ready to be baked into the two tiers required.

After letting the cakes mature for 5 weeks - both tiers were then covered in Ivory Fondant.

Flowers for the top tier were made - and carefully placed - securing with sugar glue as i knew they would be safe for the plane trip ahead.
Tiers were stacked and final decorations were put in place once the Cake and i were in Melbourne -

Victoria & Graemes Reception was held at the Provincal Hotel - upstairs in the Salon Room... just outside of Melbourne CBD....a function room described as.... ornate, old world and Parisienne in style.

After delivering the Cake, i stepped back and looked around - such pretty flowers adorned the room - an old world charm with warmth and gentleness i thought....lovely polished wooden floors and huge mirrors which gave the room such an air of grace.... and again - that ornate appeal.

Below i have posted photos from the "starting to decorate the cake - through to photos of the reception room"...and all its charm.

Whilst beginning to decorate the top tier - the sunlight caught a crystal i have hanging and i couldn't resist but take pohotos of how the beautiful roses changed colour with every flutter of the prisims....

WHITE WEDDING CAKE WITH BLING

This week saw me designing a Wedding Cake with Bling....

Suitable strands of Bling - fine strands - hanging at varying lengths, around the tall White Cake.

Large *Maxine style* flowers  sitting above the Bling - with smaller flowers tumbling over the edge

I also made a smaller version  of the larger Cake..... again with Bling.
A Brandy infused fruit cake..

SKY BLUE - LIME GREEN - FUSHIA & ORANGE.

FOR CLARE....

Clare was flying into Perth to celebrate a special Birthday and her dearest sister Rachel wanted a special cake for the occasion.

Colours and designs were discussed - and the ever so helpful Rachel sent through a few samples of differing palettes.
Should it be a few bright Gerber's  or a bigger and brighter flower... sitting centre stage on top of the cake?

A flower to that would do the electric colours justice and compliment each other.

And so it was decided..... Sky Blue - Lime Green - Fuchsia and Electric Orange.
I was thrilled to work with such an array of colours.... together on the same cake, as i could see it in my *minds eye* as to how alive it could look.

And so i set too, creating each petal -  creating a curve for some and a twist to others.

Lime Green leaves - with an imprint of veins on each.

CLARE's name was to be incorporated onto the cake - in a manner that wouldn't get lost amongst the brightness.
I decided on a plague - with letters in a paler shade of Sky Blue .. so as to be more noticeable.
Each letter gently adhered with the slightest brush of sugar glue....

And so Clare's cake came to life - little Orange stamens gently nodding on gold wires.
One Candle...... as everyone needs at least one candle to complete the ritual of  "Happy Birthday"

Standing 10 inches high from base to tip of stamens - the height surely did lend itself well to the colours and design...

And so, after delivering the Cake and sharing in a glass of Bubbly we departed - leaving Clare to celebrate, surrounded by her sisters, Rachel, Anne and Jane - her Mother and other family members..... and good friends.

Thank you Rachel - it was such a delight to create this cake for you ... to present to Clare - and as before, an absolute joy to catch up again.... you are such a gem of a Lady and Customer.

Hope you had a wonderful Evening Clare.... and a lovely stay in Perth.

MINI BRANDY CHRISTMAS FRUIT CAKES......

A few weeks ago i was asked to participate in an Artisan Christmas Fair...
Cakes and Biscuits with a Christmas theme.

So i set too thinking amidst other orders as to what colour theme i would go with - traditional Red, Green and White or something different.....hmmmmmmmmm.... would people/customers expect traditional or be surprised by perhaps a Winter Theme, considering our hot festive Season ?

Winter it shall be - i decided.

So i made my Mini Brandy Fruit Cakes -  with their 13 ingrediants - a jolly good splash  - make that 3 good splashes of Brandy - a few drops of lemon juice and then a mixture of Christmas spices.

Allowing them to mature for a few weeks -  i set too and decorated....

The Christmas Biscuits were a Honey and Orange Zest recipe - again adding a few Christmas spices.
Decorated in white...... and snowflakes for that *winter* touch.
Popped into cellophane bags and tiered with white ribbons.

The Fair was a wonderful success - and i was more than happy with the response from my customers...... yes, the Winter theme of pale blue and white snowflakes was a great choice.

I just love how i turned the wooden tree i bought from Infancy into a wooden Christmas tree  - available at - http://www.infancy.com.au/store/pc/home.asp  it added that Christmas touch - with the clear baubles encased around the pale blue and white ribbons.
I also made pale blue fondant snowflakes and adhered them using sugar glue.
